11月29日 Added a Blu-Ray playerOver Thanksgiving, Best Buy sold the Sony BDP-3000 (I think I have that right) for $399 (new low price) with Spiderman 3 and a $100 gift card. So I picked one up. I added Ratatouille and Cars to that through Amazon (best prices for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray). Got it yesterday. Set up was quick and easy. Ratatouille looked fantastic on my Bravia LCD (1080p). However, Blu-Ray discs take FOREVER to load up and play. I must have waited 2 minutes for it to boot, though the manual says it will boot faster after initial set up. The movie itself took forever to load the menu after all the freaking previews. Navigation is a bit clunky as well. I think HD-DVD is much faster and the menu system is much better implemented in HD-DVD. I'd say picture and sound are likely a wash, but for user interface, HD-DVD is much better than Blu-Ray.
As far as I know, HD-DVD also has the picture-in-picture capability that Blu-Ray does not. It's a great feature, especially with Heroes. 11月20日 COD 4 and the 360: Advertisement within NBC's ChuckLast night's episode of Chuck (NBC, 8PM) appeared to be a very large ad for Call of Duty 4 on the Xbox 360. It was mentioned by name by Morgan and Ann several times during the broadcast. Morgan played it during the episode (multiplayer only). The game was plastered all over the big screens in a very short loop of gameplay. There was a large sign in the store displaying the game. It appeared that one customer was going to purchase the game on the 360 as well.
Seems Chuck is one large advertising vehicle for the 360. 11月19日 COD 4: Veteran reportWell, I finished COD 4 on veteran over the weekend. How does it compare to previous versions on veteran? I think it's the least difficult of the appearances on the 360. Sure, there are some places where you will be stuck for some time. The TV station, No fighting in the war room, and the level where you have to fight off the offensive and then head back to where you began to exfiltrate. Those were the spots for me. COD 2 was much harder and because of the gaps in checkpoints in some places, COD 3 was harder than COD 4.
Don't get me wrong, the game is still challenging and isn't a cake walk. I'm now working on the Mile High Club and I've peaked at a video on you tube. That guy is fast. I don't know how I'm going to get up there in a minute and change. 11月16日 Xbox Live is 5iveWere you a beta tester or day one (2002) subscriber to live and didn't get an email about your 500 free MS points?
Visit this site to register and if they find out you qualify, you'll get your goodies 11月7日 Call of Duty 4: Grenades Gone Wild I picked up COD 4 yesterday. The game is great and the one thing that sets it apart from previous iterations, aside from setting, is the amount of grenades tossed at you by the enemy. It's insane on veteran. If you stay in one place too long, the AI will locate you and toss what seems to be an endless amount of grenades at your location. As far as frustration goes, I'm only in about 4 missions. There is one, so far, pain in the ass moment. You'll be ambushed in a closed in television studio office. Grenades and RPGs (yes, RPGs in an office) fly everywhere. If you've played COD before, you know that to stop the flow of enemies, you must advance. I think this took me about 1 1/2 hours to complete. Not as bad as parts of COD 3. 11月1日 360 features in Scrubs Tonight's episode of Scrubs co-starred the 360. Seems Turk just got one and was playing Far Cry. It also wasn't hooked up to the TV and Carla did something the manual states not to do: pick it up while it's on and when there is a game in it. Oops. There were also several continuity errors involving the controllers and battery packs. First they are there, then they are gone, then they are back. The 360 also features in NBC's Chuck. |
