3月26日 Back again for more notes:
- Fallout is minimal as will be casualties, but explain to the people exposed
- Another dead lead, a common theme through out 24
- Delusions of safety, typical character flaw
- Fayed is going to say, I have two more bombs--hey, just as I was typing it
- Geez, just kill Gredenko already and do it yourself. Outsourcing sucks
- Another dumbass who wants the money and doesn't think of the consequences
- Is anyone else thinking...."have you seen my baseball?"
- Ah, the reason he needs the money, to take care of his brother
- Is this so he can cover his ass and say my brother did it?
- Culver City...home of Sony Pictures, I believe
- The Rick is wrong, something tells me he can't accept that
- Does the Rick kill her and the guy who found the stuff?
- A favor for Denver? So who is dirty?
- Being a black president isn't a good thing, they may have slightly longer lifespans than Catholic presidents
- WWWD?
- Vickery? Made up ship name
- Weird time for a note
- Ah, worries about Wayne and Karen...the VP seems pretty pissed his plan is going to hell
- Will the VP fire him?
- It wasn't me, it was my brother!
- Mighty fast download for Sprint
- Buy my underwear at Kmart. Quantas never crashed
- Easiest interrogation ever
- Always with the nuke power plants, think up something new
- Your brother is a traitor! And I'm going to get you killed trying to get an evil man
- Howser? Doogie?
- His head seems too big for the body
- The double cross on the Rick
- Unreliable source?
- I won't forget about it! Johnson is a dead man?
- Because you walk around like you have been taking Viagra when Nadia's name is mentioned
- Just like Sam and Diane on Cheers
- So, who blows it?
- Poor sniping position
- Looks like a Land Rover...just follow it for a few blocks and it will stop working
- What piss poor tactical placement of the sniper
- Fayed is just going to go off with the bombs somewhere
- Then you know what I'm capable of
- But I'll launch the weapon anyway
- What harm would a delay do?
- But you get the same result if you wait a few minutes, something else is going on here
- Wayne: I'm going to fuck you up
- A power play all along, just like season 2
3月19日 Notes as the show unfolds:
- Floating rib fragments isn't going to hold Jack back, he's been dead at least twice
- Another way for two other bombs?
- Uh oh, inappropriate touching
- Chloe is going to turn you into HR
- Well, that looks familiar
- What if the RQ-2 was unladen?
- Obviously, it was an inside job
- Tom has that look
- Nuclear retaliation, just like in the Sum of All Fears
- 15 cities left? And CTU/LA is out?
- Vegas, baby!
- The Rick looks pissed
- Where the hell did Jack's dad go?
- Next words are, you have a son, Jack...
- How did she know Audrey?
- Uh oh
- Audrey is dead? Accident? Or a set up?
- The bricks just keep falling on Jack
- Maybe Audrey is in prison in China? Afterall, there was a trade made...
- Cat fight!
- That light blue tie on the veep is just lame
- No flinches, except for Karen
- So does a nuclear attack strike fear into the enemies or only "embolden" them? The terrorists have nothing to lose, so I'm guessing they don't care
- Another mole! moley, moley, moley!
- Milo is a goner now
- Nadia is being set up, she's an obvious target
- How come they don't have GPS?
- San Francisco, guessed wrong
- Nadia, talk or I will make you watch Silver Spoons!
- Jack interrogation techniques
- Denver was also the location of the Sum of All Fears nuke detonation
- Milo, Milo...you're crazy
- What if it was Milo? Framing Nadia?
- Jack's going to knock someone out
- I wonder if the movie will be Jack seeking revenge?
- 3 minutes to get in there
- Close call with that frag
- That's not a good sign
- Looks like the veep is pissed that it didn't go off
- Grasping at straws to carry through with his plan
- Lennox has a spine, but it's not enough
Thoughts as the episode progresses (note, this is a week late)
- Logan into CTU, who will try and kill him?
- I'm Chloe O'Brien, I took you down last season!
- Silver spoons is head of field ops?
- Little Rick grew a pair
- There's a Denver CTU? Will this be a spin off?
- Typical villain, talks too much
- How come they neverblook up?
- The Rick don't take no shit
- Shades of the Bush the second administration
- Lennox standing up, probably ends up dead
- The veep has to be in on the plot
- So, what happens when the "truth" comes out and Lennox lied? He's a dead man
- Aaron Pierce!
- Martha looks crazy
- Hope Aaron doesn't get banned from the produce store like Kramer did
- Ok, just a bit creepy and shades of the Sentinel that featured Keifer
- Ha, Aaron won't call him Mr. President
- She's going to go off the deep end
- How can Jack still sneak around? And what were those two idiots doing?
- Leave him hangin'!
- Uh oh, the look of death
- Charm isn't going to get you anywhere, Charles
- Conclusive proof? Hmmm...
- Shifty eyes give away the lie
- Shades of "they were buying yellow cake! yellow cake!"
- That's probably not a bluff you wan't to call
- Camera on the knife a lot
- You are a good man, Aaron...even though I ordered you killed
- Good shot
- Please, tell me more...like she's taking a telemarketer call
- I guess Markov figures he's dead either way
- What a bunch of dumbasses...let's walk out into the middle of a firefight with no cover...bunch of noobs
- Flashbang!
- They aren't going to get there in time
- Is Logan thinking, that bitch stabbed me!
- Guess not
- The driver should look where he's going, unless they want something bad to happen
3月17日 This was my first summit that I was able to attend and I was looking forward to hearing some good stuff about the Xbox 360 and meeting my fellow MVPs, all of whom I know only via the forums or via Live. My wife and I flew out of DC to Seattle on Sunday morning and arrived a little after 2PM Pacific. This was much more painful with the daylight savings time change and having to wake up on little to no sleep to make the flight.
Sunday:
- Arrived at SEATAC. Haven't been to Seattle in at least 2 decades, so I don't remember much
- Checked into the Grand Hyatt in downtown. Nice hotel, nice big rooms. Nice of MS to pay for 4 days.
- After a bit of rest we head out and walk about town. Went to Pike Place Market, but we didn't get to see the fish throwing guys because it was near closing time
- Headed to Belltown on foot to eat some sushi at Shiro's. The toro (fatty tuna) was fantastic and reasonably priced (for toro) at $4 per piece. I ended up getting six pieces.
- Walked back to the hotel and stopped by to get some dessert and then back to the room. I get a call from another MVP, but I'm too tired to meet and greet the others. Note: this is only about 7:30 local. I'm out cold by 9:30 pacific.
Monday:
- The check-in/registration doesn't start until 1PM, so the wife and I walk a bit more around Seattle in the morning. Nice town.
- I head over to check in and meet some MVPs. I recognize mastaglach without having met him before and litheon. We chat it up and then register. Not much is going on at registration, so we just meet up with all the other Xbox MVPs that made it to the summit. I finally meet Tony Hynes in person.
- Nothing else to do until dinner at 6:30, so a few of us again go out walking around town.
- Dinner was fun, the food was decent...but the chicken was a bit dry (soon to be a theme). We are then subjected to the most lame entertainment/MC one could afford for a nickel. Note to MS: next time, spring for someone with talent. It was horrible.
- Tony set up two 360s in a lounge so that everyone could try out Gears of War (this goes for all the other Americas MVPs at the regional dinner). Chris Palodino empties his pockets of various 360 swag. The prize was the Perfect Dark Zero recorder pen. Tony recorded a message posing as Bill Gates and offering a reward for the return of that pen.
- Back to the hotel for sleep
Tuesday:
- Breakfast at the convention center, followed by Bill Gates' keynote address. A line formed outside the hall where he will address the 1700+ MVPs. I liken it to Star Wars, many geeks and dweebs waiting for the doors to open for a mad dash for a seat close to center. Most of the Xbox MVPs end up one column off from center, with a decent view of Gates. He yaps for about 20 minutes or so and then opens it up to questions. I get up and stand in line (#3 at the microphone of six total mics). I wait patiently. The first guy in front of me gets Gates to sign an original copy of a manual for altair. I get a pic of the result. Most of the other questions are completely lame and soem Japanese MVPs stumble through asking a question through a translator that eats up precious time. Time for one more question and Rich Kaplan chooses another mic instead of me. Bummer. I was going to ask him his gamertag, gamerscore, and the last achievement he unlocked. Wouldn't it be funny if he had said, "My gamertag is StripClubDJ." Alas, the world will not know now.
- 11AM and Peter Moore talks up the 360 and games. I can't reveal anything from this presentation, but there are some good things coming. After the talk, I get my picture with Peter. I think the result is OK, but I can blame Tony for the photo. He likes the Sega on my Arsenal jersey, but not the Arsenal...as he is a Liverpool supporter. We chat about the league table and that's that.
- Lunch time!
- After lunch, a few of us go to a Windows Live Update session. My god, poor presentation skills, boring content, AND monotone! The trifecta of boring. I escape at a break and make it out alive. Matt feels bad about leaving and stays for the whole thing. Poor Matt.
- Next up: Games for Windows session. And that's about all I can say.
- Dinner at the Museum of Flight near Boeing Field. Catered by McCormick & Schmicks. Unfortunately, only the prime rib roast was good. Tony set up 12 360s to game with. I play a little Crackdown with Jaken Bear, who brought his leveled up character and proceeds to administer the beatdown on my character.
- Back to the hotel for sleep
Wednesday:
- Early rise to get a bus from the hotel to Microsoft's campus. Breakfast quickly and then another shuttle to the millenium buildings.
- Lots of great stuff I can't talk about (yet)
- I meet Larry (Major Nelson) for the first time in person
- I meet Trixie for the first time
- Lots of great people on the Xbox team and they are passionate about what they do and love the feedback and ideas the community has
- We get some hands on with some stuff
- Tony likes goats. Or maybe it was goatees. It was hard to tell.
- Dinner at the Xbox cafe. Food was catered and dry as cardboard. Larry wonders why they didn't order pizza.
- Chat with some great folks on the team: a guy who works with 3rd parties on marketing and he was really open to hearing feedback about EA and other publishers. Another guy I talked to worked in hardware testing and had some great stories about some broken ones he saw in person, including one run over by a car. They really want the 360 experience to be great and we tell them stories about some people who have gone through 4+ consoles.
- Shuttle bus back to the hotels
- Sleep time!
Thursday:
- Another early rise to catch a bus to MS campus, breakfast, and another shuttle to the millenium buildings.
- Lots of interesting stuff that may be viewable on some sort of bonus content.
- Off to the MS store to spend some of our own cash. Too bad there was a limit of $120, otherwise I may have purchased some nice hardware.
- I skip lunch and head back to the hotel
- Out to lunch with the wife, then purchase some movie tickets for later in the evening, take a monorail trip to the Space Needle. $15 per person to ride up to the top. The views were fantastic, but $15! WTFO! The Empire State Building was something like $4. Back to the hotel, reservations for Ruth's Chris
- Dinner was yummy
- Off to see Breach. Interesting movie, not great...just informative and interesting
- Back to the hotel for some sleep
Friday:
- Wake up time...get ready for the airport
- East coast is being hit by storms...our flight isn't affected...yet
- Flight is on time and we're off to Denver
- I hear from Matt...he's stuck in Seattle still. He was supposed to leave the previous night and won't leave until Saturday at the earliest
- Leave Denver and just 25 minutes late into DC.
3月5日 As always, here are my thoughts on tonight's episode in real time:
- Citadel is down, send in the medics!
- I don't think Logan knows what Jack went through, it's not like he was tortured
- Trying to blame Al-asaad?
- Reed is a little jumpy
- Well, Lennox isn't going to be briefing anyone, as long as they figure out they need to get rid of him
- Looks like Reed is going to die as well
- Trying to go all prisoner's dilemma on Lennox? Dominant strategy is to rat on the other
- Hmmm...no damage from the fire extinguisher to the head?
- Reed is a dumbass, not knowing the dominant strategy
- Why leave Logan alone? Dumb move
- Seems like he knows, but is holding strong on the bluff
- Jack would have shot him in the knees by now
- Why do the bad guys always call right away once the other side leaves the building?
- Jack planning an invasion!
- Gee, thanks for that info Logan...you don't think he knows that?
- If that was really Sprint service, they'd be cut off and cloned
- Where the hell is Karen anyway? Shouldn't she have been on a military transport?
- Lennox is looking insanse now
- Will the VP administer a beat down?
- Just a verbal one, bummer
- Lennox has lots of cards to play now
- I think Jack needs a stealth meter
- Does the season end with Jack in a gulag?
- What are they going to do? Go to the UN and cry?
- Nice cut away
- Oops, looks like they didn't train him well
- Ouch
- And there's the info...delivery systems
- Why did you walk towards the door, Jack?
- I'm not allowed to talk to you, but I'll do it anyway
- Something tells me that he gets caught before he delivers the info
- Yup
- Silver Spoons to the rescue!
I'll miss next week's show, so the review won't be up until Saturday, the 17th at the earliest.
