6月29日 Hooray Arsenal shoppingArsenal's store rang me up yesterday to ask me if I still wanted to get the Henry printing on my 07-08 away kit. So I had to call them back this morning and let them know I'd like to change it...went for Van Persie since I already have a Fabregas shirt. Now that's customer service, I imagine other places would have just sent the shirt as ordered and said...oh well. 6月27日 360 on its way back homeGot an email late yesterday afternoon. My 360 (well, I'll have to see if it's actually mine) is on its way back home. I guess I'll have it by Friday, finally. 6月25日 Still waitin' on my 360...Last month, my 360 died. It took a while for support to send the box and here in lies the biggest problem with the repair process. There isn't much they can do to speed up the repair time (when they actually have it in their hands) as that will vary. However, Microsoft can improve some aspects of the process. And that is solely in the shipping. 3 Day Select UPS is not fast enough. I think that this should be changed to overnight or select overnight. That would cut down the time to get the 360 off and back down by at least 6 business days. Peter Moore has said to focus on the repair process and not the failure rates. And he's right. Customers won't remember that x or y broke, but they will remember if the problem was fixed and fixed quickly and to their satisfaction. Henry off to BarcaThierry Henry is off to Barcelona. Bummer, but the Gunners did pretty good without him for long stretches of the season and managed to finish 4th in the table. If Wenger can replace Henry with a good striker to accompany van Persie, the Gunners will be in good shape. Will it be enough to battle Chelsea and Man U? Hmmm...maybe if Walcott steps up his game.
Anyway, farewell Henry and I'm bummed that my new 07-08 Away Kit is already out of date since I pre-ordered it with Henry printing. 6月7日 V-22 in action over the PentagonJust had a V-22 Osprey take a flight around the Pentagon earlier. I tried to get my camera out quickly, this is the best I got. 6月6日 Pirates!Last week, I attended a briefing given by the only living US commander of a naval vessel to engage pirates. You can read the "official" details here. I worked with him on another project and didn't realize the connection to pirates. He's heard all the pirate jokes you can think of. I'll try and get my hands on the unclassified briefing so I can post up a few pictures. He commanded the USS Winston Churchill, an Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyer, for two years and was tasked with patrolling the waters off the horn of Africa in the name of maritime security. Somali pirates had been (and still are) operating off the shores and capturing commercial vessels. They board and hold the crew and boat hostage for ransom money. The Churchill encountered its first pirate ship a hundred or so miles off the coast of Somalia. They were directed by a Dutch commadore to show overt action to the pirates to get them to stop. Overt has different meanings to different navies. So, the Churchill circled the much smaller boat for a while. The pirates brought their captured crew on deck and pointed AK-47s at them, so the Churchill disengaged. A few days later, they got word of another pirate ship in the area and came up with a better set of rules of engagement that they passed to 5th fleet (? I think I have this right). Basically, it was a step by step ratcheting up of force to stop the pirates (the last being destroy the ship). Long story short, the Churchill shows aggressive force and finally the ship stops (just short of being fired upon to disable the ship). The pirates eventually surrender and the captive Indian crew is also rescued. 6月2日 Nintendo WiiLast Sunday, I happened to stop by Best Buy late in the afternoon and finally ran across a Wii in stores. They had about 10 of them in stock, so I picked one up. New Lego Star Wars due this fallThanks to TMZ, I ran across this little announcement about Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga. Game InfoBuilding on the success of both LEGO® Star Wars™ "block-buster" videogames, LEGO® Star Wars™: The Complete Saga enables families to play through the events of all six Star Wars movies in one videogame for the first time ever.
